I have been building web based startups since 2011.
My first Web Startup was an App called Keep me safe that allowed me to sleep at airports and not worry about my backpack (I traveled a lot at the time). Keep me safe used the phone gyroscope to detect motion and trigger an alarm.
After building Keep me safe I was looking for ways to test it on different types of mobile phones. Not finding what I needed I built elusivestars, a marketplace for mobile app usability testing. Both were side projects and most of my focus was on building a solution for a problem that I personally had.
Building solutions to your own problems is one way to build a startup. But I later learned there is a better way, a way to reduce risk and improve your odds of success by using the Lean Startup Methodology.
I was fortunate to be a Co-Founder of CodePilot.ai, a funded startup where our team was able to apply Lean Startup. What I found is that although Lean Startup is easy to understand it is challenging to apply.
